Maximum job count has been reached for the storage unit

Hello,

if there is following warning massage in the backup job log - Maximum job count has been reached for the storage unit - and subsequently the backup jobs stuck, what should be the workaround for this situation? Just increase the job count under the disk pool settings? What is the optimal number of concurrent backup jobs?

What kind of device is the STU pointing to and how fast can you feed it ? Are there multiple STUs pointing to the same disk that need to share I/O or just one STU ? There's a lot of factors to look at to maximize your throughput to disk.

If you think you've got some headroom you can certainly increase the # of jobs for that STU and see if your aggregate throughput increases, just don't go hog wild with it. Running 10 jobs at 5 MB/sec/each will push more data in a one hour window than 100 jobs at 10 KB/sec/each. =)
