A couple of questions if you can help please:

1. Any idea when the 2.6.0.2 ISO image will be available on Fileconnect?

2. As the client packages are no longer part of the patch and are additional downlaods i assume you can decide whether to bother installing them on the appliance or not?

Thanks

Hi Mark,

1. Next week.  (I wanted to be more specific, but the guy I would ask took today off - try Monday anyway)

2. I think that's right, yes.  Downloads should be MUCH smaller now :)

OK thanks - not there yet but will keep checking

Hi Mark,

I'm seeing it on FileConnect now - try a refresh if you're still not seeing it.

Seems us EMEA users need to learn to wait until USA working hours! wink

mmmm - now i get concerned a little ... i need to image a new appliance with this so that it goes straight in at 2.6.0.2 .. the readme says:

NetBackup Appliance 2.6.0.2 Full image bootable ISO
(for 5220 and 5230 appliances only)

I am guessing that it also includes no clients though as this one is only 2.8GB whereas 2.6.0.1 is 9.1GB - just makes me a little nervous!

This may be a silly question but is it ok to apply this update even though my master will still be at 7.6.0.1?  Just want to double check is all.

Sorry.  Ignore my comment.  I just realized 7.6.0.2 is out for the master as well. I was looking at my file connect site and didnt see it.  My bad.

Stanley - should have been OK anyway - not usually a problem mixing 3rd / 4th dot releases together

Thanks buddy.  Will make note of that for future releases.

Does anybody know if Netbackup Appliance 5230 can be used as both master server & media server? Symantec is promoting that it can be used as either master or media or both but on the config guide, you can check only one server role. Thanks

If you configure appliance as master server, it will act as master & media server, but if you configure your appliance as media then you need to have a seperate master server.

Thank you so much Umair. That's exactly what I want to hear.

Does anyone know what is the latest version download they support 32 bits O/S? My appliance has 2.6.0.2 but the 7.6.0.2 download supports x64 only. My laptop is 32bit therefore need the 32bits admin console.

You didn't say what O/S your laptop is on, but assuming it's one that we stopped supporting in 7.6, the last version for you is 7.5.0.7, which equates to 2.5.4 on an Appliance.

A 7.5.0.7 won't work too well with a 2.6.0.x Appliance, though, so try to use this as leverage to get an updated laptop.  ;)

My laptop is Windows 7 professional. If you said 7.5.0.7 won't work well with 2.6.0.2, I guess I would pursue a 64 bit laptop. Thank you so much.
