Version 2.6.0.3
I would like to perform an upgrade to  2.7.3 or 3.0

Kindly let me know the procedure and where to download the software.

I never worked on appliance before. Please help to find the right documents if any.

Master version is at 7.6.0.3, I'm planning to upgrade this to 8.0.

First off, you can't go directly to 2.7.3 or 3.0 from 2.6.0.3, you'll need to go to 2.6.1 first.  From there you can go straight to 3.0.

You must upgrade the master first to 8.0, in case you didn't know that.

Documentation-wise, start with the Appliance Upgrade guide.  There is an upgrade guide for both 2.7.3 and 3.0.  If you want ultimately to go to 3.0/8.0, my advice is to go to it and only stop off on the versions you need to, like getting 2.6.0.3 to 2.6.1.

Yes, those are the files you want to download BUT as I said in one of the earlier posts, you can't go to 2.7.x or 3.0 straight from where you're at.

You have to go from 2.6.0.3 to 2.6.1.2.  Then you can go to 2.7.x or 3.0 depending on which you want to do.

You can download the 2.6.1.2 upgrade files from

https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000024747

So download the 2.6.1.2a files, upgrade, and then you can go to 2.7.3 or 3.0 whichever you wish.

Hi ,

Thanks a lot for the informations.

I read through this : NetBackup Appliance 2.6.1.2a Release

https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000024747

I didnt understand about the client packages and its usage.

We have 2 Netbackup 5220 Appliance in our environment currently running with 2.6.0.3 , so please confirm if I should ONLY download these 3 files.

NB_Appliance_N_2.6.1.2-2.x86_64-tar-split.1of3
NB_Appliance_N_2.6.1.2-2.x86_64-tar-split.2of3
NB_Appliance_N_2.6.1.2-2.x86_64-tar-split.3of3

I'm a newbie to this kindly help :(

If you don't run the client installs off the appliance or use it as a repository of sorts for the client packages, then just download those three files and combine them back into one, and that will be the file you use to install the update.

If you DO want the client packages on the appliance, you'll need to download the add-ons as well, and then install them via the CLISH, which is documented in the appliance admin guide.

I didnt understand the use of those client packages , so I'm confused

It is possible to install additional client packages in the appliance, but you don't need to do it.

Even.

Hi Even,

Thanks for the confirmation.

I'm confused again, I got 2.6.1.2 (x3 files ) from Veritas site , but I see this version is 2.6.0.3.

What should be ideal?

My ultimate aim is to upgrade to the latest version.

I would suggest using the CLISH rather than the GUI.  If you downloaded the files separately, they're not going to show up there.

Take a look at the Admin Guide or the Upgrade Guide for instructions on how to move the files to the appliance and then apply them.  Make sure you account for downtime since all jobs are stopped during the upgrade.

You don't download software from Symantec.
You download from https://my.veritas.com

Logon as the user who the software is licensed to, then click on Licensing -> Entitlements

Thanks alot for the response : @vtas_chas @Even @tunix2k @Marianne :)

I was not able to download the files from MyVeritas. Cause in that it listed only the files for Netbackup Server ( Master server), Opscenter server, agents.Downladables.png

But I could find the files in Veritas Site :

NetBackup Appliance 2.7.3 Release

NetBackup Appliance Release 3.0

In these when I click on the Download Attachment  I could find many packages or tar files attached to those veritas articles.

So I can go proceed by using the files in these article, transferring them to the appliance and following the instructions in the above articles. Please confirm.

TIA :)
