ERROR While upgrading appliance 5230 to 2.6.0.4-2

The upgrade requires at least 7.5G free space  on /inst. Currently the available space on /inst is 6.9G

Observation:

Using cli mode we saw different folders in /inst/patch/appliance

1.applied

2.backup

3.availabe

4.installed

5.upgrade

Not sure from which folder should we remove items to get more space cant find any articles for it too

Hunch:

The installed folder has (1000774323 Apr 24  2014 SYMCnbserver-7.6.0.1-SLES11.x86_64.rpm ) this file which can do the trick but need your advice to remove it. Below is the output of the folder

<Apppliance>:/inst/patch/appliance/installed/2.6.0.2/NB_PATCH # ls -lS

Hi everyone,

I was able to figure out a temporary solution for it

Solution

  • I copied the VrtsNB_CLT_7.6.0.2.Linux.tar.gz and VrtsNB_7.6.0.2.linuxS_x86.tar.gz in the folder /inst/patch/appliance/installed/2.6.0.2/NB_PATCH as mentioned in my post to /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/
  • Opened up a NFS share using main menu Support > Logs > Share Open to share (to share logs folder)
  • Copied the Archive files to my workstation
  • Deleted it from the directory /inst/patch/appliance/installed/2.6.0.2/NB_PATCH
  • Using rm VrtsNB_CLT_7.6.0.2.Linux.tar.gz and rm VrtsNB_7.6.0.2.linuxS_x86.tar.gz
  • Ran setup from web interface and it went successfull as we were able to get 7.6G of space for /inst folder.

PS: I was sure that the mentioned files were archives and thier executables were in the same folder so it was safe to remove the archives.

Usman,

Check /inst/patch/incoming to see if there's anything there you can clean out first (other than the patch you're trying to apply obviously).

Hi Chad

There is nothing in there not even the patch. the patch was inside the below directory. /inst/patch/appliance/upgrading

Other than that there is a backup of 3 GB  in the( /inst/patch/appliance/backup) folder but we cant touch that.

Any suggestions or links to the /inst folder and its contents? so we can determine what can be and cant be removed. It seems there is very liitle documentation on this in the appliance upgrade guide too.

and what do you have to say about the file in the particular folder below that I have mentioned in the post

/inst/patch/appliance/installed/2.6.0.2/NB_PATCH
