SAS card for Tape library connectivity and netbackup windows server catalog migrate to Netbackup linux server

hi,

i have two queries listed below;

1. is PCI slot SAS card supported for IBM tape library

2. currently in my environment NetBackup server is configured on tradition pattren OS windows 2008 server. now i want to purchase a Netbackup appliance 5230, after that i want to migrate from windows server NB catalog to OS Linux appliance. is it supported if yes then can some one share a NB catalog migration procedure.

1. Not supported - the SAS cards are for storage shelf expansion only - it may work but would not be supported

2. You can have you catalog migrated from Windows to an Appliance but need a specialist partner to do the migration for you as a professional service (not a cheap project!)

Just look for IBM Redbooks for your library on google.

There you can find a support matrix.

Hi Mark,

thanx for reply. but in my sceniro i also want to configure the tape library with netbackp appliance 5230 so what i do? can i use the SAS port for tape library configuration, because in Tape library i have three SAS drives and one Fiber ? awaiting ur feed back.

No - sorry - you can only use fibre for tape connections on a 5230

You would need to swap out your SAS drives for fibre ones - or justy use 1 tape drive
