Hi all,
Am I reading it right that User Access Management, because it's part of the NBAC, isn't available on the NetBackup Appliances? Does this mean either I can give users admin access or nothing at all?
I am aware of the command line ability to assign a role to a user/group to allow them CLISH or Shell, but I was hoping to at least use the built in roles in NetBackup and am surpised to see this not available for Appliances.
Thanks in advance.
Richard

It doesn't go to just "restore" i am afraid .. an idea is here: http://www.veritas.com/docs/000044385
You could however give "restore" users and "reporting" users only access to your OpsCenter server where you can restrict those rights: http://www.veritas.com/docs/000093059
Hope that helps

I do believe that is the case - however you shouldnt generally need access to an appliance itself and as their is now only a Java Admin Console to manage NetBackup itself you can restrict roles using the configuration files for that.
Full granular control need NBAC but that is not available as yet for appliances as far as i can see.

Thanks for the reply Mark. Oh, so you can restrict permissions through config files for NetBackup running on the appliance too?
What I am after is to give one group restore and report capabilities and one group full access or something like that.

Yeah good idea, I was looking at getting them to primarily use OpsCenter anyway, good call. Thanks Mark.
