nbu appliance 5240 master server administration console

Jess01
Level 3

Hi. I'm new on using nbu appliance 5240 version 3.1.1. How can I access its NetBackup Administration Console properly? Because at this moment, I'm just accessing it via Change Server option on our NetBackup Master Server on production.

Thanks and Regards

The consoles are different.  The "NetBackup Admin Console" (a java based app) is used to control backup jobs and backup policies and backup schedules and storage units (including the external view of storage on appliances) and SLPs, and to some degree the attributes and settings of backup clients.

However, the Appliance Console is a completely different tool, which only concerns the internal configuration (i.e. disk shelves and networks) and monitoring (of hardware) of an appliance and has absolutely no view whatsoever of backup policies, or backup clients, or backup jobs, or even backup data stored.  Access this via:   https://applianceip.or.name/

An appliance also usually has a second console (via a different IP address) (if plugged in and configured), which is more abstracted towards the lower levels of hardware, which is known as the IPMI console.  This is described as an "out of band" management console.  i.e. NetBackup is completely unaware of this IPMI console, and even RedHat is mostly unaware of it too.  The Appliance CLISH has some awareness of it.  It is used to provide a virtual (via https) KVM (Keyboard Video Mouse) experience exactly as if you were next to the appliance and had plugged in a crash-cart VGA monitor and a USB keyboard and a USB mouse.  Through this IPMI console you can also remote control the power-buttons and view the server chassis indicator lights.
