Puzzling error message as writting to PureDisk

Hello,

Firts let me briefly describe my NetBackup environment. Solaris-based master and a number of media running 6.5.6 plus PureDisk 6.6.1.2.

While taking a backup from a certain client, the following error appear in the job log:

Mar 24, 2011 5:43:07 AM - requesting resource mediasrv-pdpool
Mar 24, 2011 5:43:07 AM - requesting resource master.NBU_CLIENT.MAXJOBS.client
Mar 24, 2011 5:43:07 AM - requesting resource master.NBU_POLICY.MAXJOBS.Policy
Mar 24, 2011 6:35:51 AM - Critical bptm (pid=4269) image open failed: error 2060022: software error
Mar 24, 2011 6:35:53 AM - Critical bptm (pid=4269) sts_close_server failed: error 2060005 object is busy, cannot be closed
Mar 24, 2011 6:35:22 AM - granted resource  master.NBU_CLIENT.MAXJOBS.client
Mar 24, 2011 6:35:22 AM - granted resource  master.NBU_POLICY.MAXJOBS.Policy
Mar 24, 2011 6:35:22 AM - granted resource  MediaID=@aaaaz;DiskVolume=PureDiskVolume;DiskPool=pdpool;Path=PureDiskVolume;StorageServer=puredisk;MediaServer=mediasrv
Mar 24, 2011 6:35:22 AM - granted resource  mediasrv-pdpool
Mar 24, 2011 6:35:22 AM - estimated 304780 kbytes needed
Mar 24, 2011 6:35:23 AM - started process bpbrm (pid=4268)
Mar 24, 2011 6:35:29 AM - connecting
Mar 24, 2011 6:35:36 AM - connected; connect time: 0:00:00
Mar 24, 2011 6:35:58 AM - end writing
media write error  (84)

I have no clue that "image open failed: error 2060022: software error" really means.

Have anyone of you seen this error before?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi,

I had a case opened a while ago, although on NBU 7.0.1 and PDDO, and support said I could disregard the error. Well, my comment was, shouldn't an error be an error? The thing is, if you can restore/read/duplicate the image, then the data is OK, and you can forget about the error. But if you test on an image, and you get status 83, then you may have a problem.

So there seems to be a protocol miscommunication issue, rather than data storage problem, but always verify that you can read the data (Catalog - Verify) if you want to be 100% sure that you can use the backup.

Following to my initial message I had a case opened regarding this error. I have been advised to install rollup patch NB_PDE_6.6.1.2_EEB04-rollup1.tar. Once this patch had been installed, the issues was resolved.

Hi,

We have the same type of error in our enviroonment. And we acctually got it when we upgraded to NBU7.1. I've not seen this problem before upgrading to NBU7.1. And we are running NB_PDE_6.6.1.2 with no EEBs at all. The next EEB will also as they say solve our error with

shared.webservice.2358:When writing backup images (copy1)to Puredisk we get this error "Validation error: action has an invalid value: getSDKVersion" Source is "SPA-Webservices_Storagepool" Error nr: shared.webservice.2358

Hi,

EEB06 for PD 6.6.1.2 solves the SDK error message. Available upon request.
