Hi team, I have a NSS 8.1.2 installed in Win 2016 Std.

I am trying to connect with a master server 8.1.2 with Windows 2008 R2. But I get this message:

Exception calling "Start" with "0" argument(s): "The specified executable is not a valid Win32 application."

Hi @JonHunt updating this post.

We work with Veritas / Biomni support until they fix the problem. In the admincmd directory we found this files:

E:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\bin\admincmd>dir *. /p
Volume in drive E has no label.
Volume Serial Number is A83C-7AF6

Directory of E:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\bin\admincmd

07/11/2019 09:08 AM <DIR> .
07/11/2019 09:08 AM <DIR> ..
10/08/2015 11:45 AM 0 -dv
08/30/2014 01:07 PM 0 bpgetconfig
11/28/2017 09:56 AM 0 bptestbpcd
07/08/2014 09:19 AM 0 nbemmcmd
02/14/2018 10:15 AM 0 nbstl

This is the support summary:

This was due to a 0 byte file called bpgetconfig which was in the admincmd directory.  Instead of running bpgetconfig.exe, it was trying to run the 0 byte file, which obviously wouldn't work (and rightly gave us an exception that it was not a valid application):

"The specified executable is not a valid Win32 application."

Hi,

With issues of connecting to a Master Server, I'd start by installing the NBU java client on the web server, to ensure you can connect to the master server from that machine. This will discount any network issues or addressing issues.

Can you test this for me and let me know the outcome?

Thanks

Casper.

Hi @CasperCreedy I installed the nbu java console in the web server and test the connection to the master, all is working.

At the side of NSS the message continue.

Yesterday a made a test with other master server 8.1.2 with Win2012R2 and works.

Do I need a PowerShell v3.0 in the Win2008R2?

Hi,

Yes, Powershell v3.0 is a requirement for NSS.

Regards
Casper.

Thank you for you answer.

I will plan make the upgrade of Power Shell in the next week. I work in a retail store and today until monday (black friday and cyber monday) I cannot make changes in this master.

Then I wish you the best of luck for today and Monday!

Casper.

Hi @CasperCreedy this was a crazy week!!!

Let you update, I tried to ask permission to install PS 3.0 in the master but we are en freeze, we cannot make changes.

Also I opened a case with support, they are analyzing logs.

I will let you know any update. Thank you.

Hi, it has been a long time since my last post. let me update:

We install the PS3.0 in the master server but the problem continue.

At the level of the OS (Win 2008 R2 SP1) we made a installation of 82 important patches, but the problem is still continue.

We open a case with support, the case was elevated to Biomni. Hope that solve in this days.
