Policy failing to create on NetBackup

I have registered the machine in NSS successfully. I can see the VM entry gets created and can be seen from the NetBackup Self Service GUI. However, when the user starts a backup from the portal the backup never begins.
We have checked from NetBackup and can see that the policy is never created. I have tried restarting the NSS services but this has not resolved anything. Can you advise please?

In the error log the following error was being displayed: ExitCode '230'
Error message 'the specified policy does not exist in the configuration database '"]]></Message>
(The error log in NSS can be accessed via Admin->Support->Error Log)

This implies there is an issue with the template policy on the NetBackup master server. NSS tries to copy the template policy identified in the relevant protection level but the template policy does not exist on the master server.
On closer inspection there was a spelling mistake in the name. Correcting this rectified the problem. Policy names on the NetBackup master server and the NSS portal need to match and are character sensitive.

There is a troubleshooting chapter in the NSS configuration guide, which can be found at:
https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US.html.
(You will need to search for 'NetBackup Self Service' using the Ask a Question field, top right of the screen)

Documentation for the latest version (as of Jan 2017) V8 is available at https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000116411
