(46) Server not allowed access

Hi Guys,

I have been trying to figure this out since morning but with no luck.

I have a Windows 2008 R2 backup server on which we have Netbackup 7.1 installed and we backup the Exchange and the File Servers.

The exchange backup is working without any issues and the backup server can connect to the exchange server but the file backup has been failing and when I go under Host Properties --> Clients -> Right click on my file server and select properties I get "(46) Server not allowed access" error.

I have made sure that in the host file on the backup server as well as the file server the respective Ip are added, i.e on the file server there is a host entry for the backup server and on the backup server there is a host entry for the file server.

I have also modified the Windows Firewall on both the backup and  the file server to allow IP address for any program between these two servers.

Can anyone help me out to fix this issue of the file server not being accessible from my backup server?

Thanks

A

ok I think I have fixed it!!!

It was a hard-coded entry so I went to the registry on the file server (client)

HKLM --> SOFTWARE --> VERITAS --> NETBACKUP --> CURRENT VERSION --> CONFIG

There is a Key called "Server", I edited that and remove the 192.168.0.1 ip from it and started the backup from the backup server and its seems to be working now!!

Thanks

On the file server you need to open up its BAR GUI and select "Specify NetBackup machines and Policy Type"

Ensure that the Master and Media Servers are included in its server list - edit it if you need to to add them in

#edit# if they are all in the list then create the \netbackup\logs\bpcd\ directory and try again then take a look to see what has been logged if anything

Hi Mark,

I have attached of the BAR GUI and I made sure that it had the backup server listed in the server list as you can see and the log file under Bpcd makes no sense to me coz I dont know what to look for ;-).

I have attached that file as well. (The log file is from the backup server when trying to connect to the file server)

Thanks

The bpcd log looks like the server's log file (bptm is called).

We need the client's bpcd log file.

If the client resolves the server IP address to FQDN, you need to add it in the SERVER list.

Hi Marrianne,

I see what you mean I should have given you guys the log from the client (file server) which kinda helps, coz its trying to contact an ip of 192.168.0.2 which is not valid and when I select the BAR to delete that ip from the Server List it does not let me.

The "Remove selected" button is greyed out. is it hard coded somewhere from where I can remove it?

Here is the log from the client
