Hi
At a client we have a large AIR environment and some DB's that are deployed as media servers. When our AIR SLP's do replications between the various DataDomains, it seems to pick a random Media server. in the past we use to use the Media Server override to lock down Media servers. So that the Media server that did the backup would do the restore. Is there anything like that, that we can do with air to ensure the SLP uses a specific media server, or preferably the media server that backed up the date.

Hi William
Excellent post, but it seems that COMMON_SERVER_FOR_DUP will choose a specific media server for duplications.
Probably fine in some environments, but could be a problem in a larger environment with many OST media servers.
Good to know that it is an option though.

TECH87200 was for some or other reason removed, but is IMHO still very relevant.
Nagalla has copied the contents of the TN and posted it over here:
https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/how-use-media-host-override#comment-9493961
In short: create a touchfile on the master under <install-path>\veritas\netbackup\db\config called USE_BACKUP_MEDIA_SERVER_FOR_RESTORE
Hope this helps!

it looks like it is because of Network Optimized Duplication feature
see the below post.. may be also related to AIR too.. netbackup do define which server is better for duplication by default.. if you would like to you can chage it.
detaili info is in below post

In the spirit of sharing things, I found the following technote which seems like it might do something very similar:

EDIT: Sorry I see it was also mentioned in Nagalla's post
