Hello,
We have netbackup setup on primary site we taking a backups over a mount point which is assgined to media server through Netapp vfiler and on secondery site we have mount point assigned to media server through EMC VNX and we are planning to implement AIR replication between primay site to DR site.
Can we use Advance disk with AIR or we have to use Puredisk only as per my knowledge advance disk not supported with AIR
We also required deduplication during backup
De we required to install any plugin for EMC VNX?
Thanks

You will need MSDP pools on both sites in order to configure dedupe backups and optimised replication.
Advanced Disk cannot be used.
See NetBackup Auto Image Replication storage types in this TN: http://www.veritas.com/docs/000079335

Thanks Marianne for reply.
That means we have to consider Pure disk pool for backup.
Can we go for OST based backup with Netapp Nas and EMC VNX?

No plugins are needed. The requirements for disk storage are listed in the Dedupe manual.
Disk storage / file system simply needs to be mounted locally.
The only filesystems that are listed as 'Not Supported' are NFS, CIFS and ZFS.

Hello,
you should betted describe your configuration. it is not clear if you want to use EMC VNX as a data source or as a backup target or as a snapshot platform (for Replication Director.)
Maybe better to start a new thread, I am not sure about relation to AIR question at all.

Just plainning to use EMC VNX as a backup target for file system backup no snapshot backup involved.

Agreed with Marianne, once you are able to present storage for MSDP as a "local" mount point (F:\, /data , etc.) to the Medis Server, then no need for plug-in.

Supported OST vendors are listed in the NBU HCL:
7.0 - 7.6 - http://www.veritas.com/docs/000040791
7.7 : http://www.veritas.com/docs/000025228
Your storage devices are not listed in OST Storage Servers - Vendor Compatibility section.
As per your opening post, the storage is connected as a mount point on a media server.
This means you can use MSDP and configure storage as PureDisk pool.
Please read through the sections in the Dedupe Guide as per my previous suggestion....

Just some additional advice - don't try to configure too many new options/features on the same day.
Priotitize - which is more important right now - MSDP or NDMP?
Download the relevant manuals, take time to read the one that needs to be configured first.
While reading the manual, draw up your own task list.
Configure and test.
Only when the 1st one is working fine, go on to the next option.
Good luck!
