It rather seems that source is VxFS and destination is JFS or JFS2.
Nevertheless, files were actually restored despite the error message (as per the TN).

Please consider using NBU for Oracle agent for 1-step backup and 1-step restore.

Do you have the restore progress file? There is sometimes more info here than in Activity Monitor.

tar process on the destination client as well as bptm on master/media server reported failure.

You need to check these logs as a start:
tar on the client.
bptm on master/media server.

If log folders do not exist, create it under /usr/openv/netbackup/logs and retry the restore.

Create these log folders as well:
bpbrm on master/media
bprd on master (NBU must be restarted to enable this log)

VX_SETEXT failed for /backup/netbackup_restore/ctx/spfile_abcd_9657_20161117_dbid227919520.ora - VxFS Extent Attributes not set. Errno = 25: A specified file does not support the ioctl system call.

What is the filesystem on the source client?

And to which filesystem type are you restoring?

Seems destination filesystem cannot write the file with the required filesystem attributes.

I have just found this:

http://www.veritas.com/docs/000028244

Please check if files were restored.

What is the filesystem on the source client?   JFS OR JFS2

And to which filesystem type are you restoring?    JFS OR JFS2

Seems destination filesystem cannot write the file with the required filesystem attributes.

Restoration is completed as per DB team. they are able restore the RMAN database.

Hello Vinayak,

I think your target client is mounted with ioctl option which causing problem.

You can check the ioctl flag enabled or not on client using 'mount' command.

If yes then umount the filesystem and mount again without ioctl option and then try to restore.

Also check the filesystem type and ACL permission using getacl <mountpoint> command.

There are lots of compatibility issues with AIX filesystem. Please refer the NBU SCL guide for more information.

Thanks & Regards,

Hi Marianne,

Yes the source is  VxFS and destination is JFS or JFS2.

Due to which the restoration is getting completed but getting failed with error 2850.

Thanks for your support.
