Have a dumb question that I havent been able to find an answer to...

If I have a policy disabled at the beginning of a backup window, but then enable it 2 hours after the start of the window do I need to run the backup manually or will the scheduler pick it up because it is still in the backup window?

It will, use "nbpemreq -predict_all -date <date>" to check.

If you don't see that in the output, nbpem may not have picked it up yet so to expedite the policy re-read, use "nbpemreq -updatepolicies".

What is backup start window?

Backup will be started any time before the backup end time mentioned in the backup window.

In your case, if you have activated the policy before the end time of the window it should be started with the help of nbpem.

hope it help!
