Adding Media Server with PureDisk Netbackup 7.1

Currently we have Media server with a PureDisk storage unit that is also our Master server (ie. everthing is on one server).  We are adding an additional Media Server to our backup environment to give us more space for disk based backups.  We have licenses for both the media server and for PureDisk.  I'm not sure what the best way to do this is.

We currently have a storage pool (SP1) that contains the current PureDisk drive.   Is it recommended or possible to add the disk from the new media server into this pool?  OR Is it possible/recommended to configure the new media server as it's own disk pool to use for PureDisk deduplicaiton?

Hopefully this makes sense..

Hey Mate,

If I correctly understood, you have one Master/Media Server with the deduplication disk pool on it (MSDP).

You are going to add additional Media Server with MSDP (Media Server Deduplication Pool) to your NetBackup Domain and you are wondering if you can add the disk located on the second Media Server to the first one?

If so - the answer is no.

If you had PureDisk server and used PDDO, you could add additional Content router to the existing SPA or add additional storage and extend the volume/fs.

Hope it helps.
