Hi all,
I have a situation where client is demanding me to add netbackup 7.5 client to a master server with netbackup 6.5 version. At first I denied him that we can not add higher version client to a lower master server. I asked him to downgrade the client version. But he is not ready to do it. Is there any alternate way to overcome this.

No. Cannot be done. Not supported.
See Version Compatibility TN: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH29677 .
You will need to upgrade the master server as NBU 6.x reached EOSL more than a year ago.

first... Netbackup 6.X is end of life cycle, its no more supported from Symantec.
second --- client should not be in 7.x when the master is in 6.X -- also not supported.
if the customer is froceing you to do that..
just inform him that.. and get an agreement that "you are not responsliable for backup failues and restore failures..." as it is not supported.
if he is ready to have it configured even with out gareenty(on one is ready to do that.) of the data backup and recovery just go ahead and add it and give the responsiblity of any failures to him.

Its impossible to add NetBackup client 7.x to NetBackup Master server 6.x
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH29677
Alternate option to take backup of this netbackup client is :-
1. Mount filesystems/drives on any other server (NetBackup Master/Media/Client) with same OS and netbackup version 6.x
2. Create bpstart_notify and bpend_notify scripts
3. Create backup policy.
