Admin console opening in Backup Archive and Restore

randes2000

Netbackup 7.5.0.4 master server Solaris 10x86, Unix media server Solaris 10, Windows media server Windows 2008R2.  After power failure and restart of master and media servers, Admin console starts in Backup Archive and Restore on master server and Unix media server.  Admin console starts normally on Windows media server.  Have stopped and restarted Netbackup processes on master server and Unix media server.  auth.conf file is OK.

Are you using the remote admin console or the java conosle ?

What OS and Version of NBU are you running on the Master server ?

Can you upload a screen shot of what you are seeing ?

java console.  Versions stated in original post.  Cannot upload image.

What I am seeing is the Backup, Archive and Restore console instead of the Administration console where I normally monitor and admin my policies.  I am attempting to start the console normally with the jnbSA command.

Are you running the java consonle on a work station ?

I am attempting to start the console normally with the jnbSA command.

So, you are starting the Java Console directly on the Master server?

As which user?
Please show us the auth.conf.

Which processes are running on the master server?
Please show us output of bpps -x.

Have you enabled any logging for Java processes?
You will need all of these logs:

bpjava-msvc
bpjava-susvc
bpjava-usvc

Create log folders, attempt another logon, then see which log folders contain files.
Copy the log file to a txt file that reflects the process/folder name (e.g. bpjava-msvc.txt) and upload here as File Attachment.

Are you using the root account to log-in using the Java Console ?

It's quite normal to have the BAR gui shown if you don't have administrative rights on the system (.e.g using a non root account).

I have compared your logs with my own.

The 'errors' in bpjava-msvc seems 'normal' - seeing the exact same <16>'s although my login is perfectly fine.

Seems you are logging in with a different user name - arich, not randes.

My bpjava-susvc looks like this (logging in as root) - I am missing line 2 and 3 in your log file:

15:52:51.809 [27565] <2> logparams: /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpjava-susvc root -1 -1 en_US /usr/openv/java/auth.conf 1 -1 27563 noUserCredentialsFile

15:52:51.811 [27565] <2> cljava_getUserHome: UserName: root
15:52:51.811 [27565] <2> cljava_getUserHome: UserName: root, UserHome: /root
15:52:51.812 [27565] <2> retrieveLocalPatchVersion: Reading from /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/version
15:52:51.812 [27565] <2> parsePatchVersionString: parsing = >7.5.0.5

Rest of file is the same.

So, there is either something wrong with the auth.conf or with the user profile.

Please carefully check auth.conf - vi the file as 'root'.
Check for any 'funny characters' as follows:
While in 'vi', type:
:set list

File will now look as follows:
root ADMIN=ALL JBP=ALL$
* ADMIN=JBP JBP=ENDUSER+BU+ARC$

Any 'tabs' will show up as ^I
File should not contain any 'tabs' - just spaces, and a $-sign to reflect EOL.

It might be worth the effort to recreate auth.conf as the file is 'open' while NBU is running and may have been damaged.
This is what bpps -x |grep java  shows on my system:

root     12895     1  0 09:25 ?        00:00:00 /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpjava-susvc root -1 -1 en_US /usr/openv/java/auth.conf 1 -1 12892 noUserCredentialsFile
root     12897 12895  0 09:25 ?        00:00:00 /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpjava-susvc root -1 -1 en_US /usr/openv/java/auth.conf 1 -1 12892 noUserCredentialsFile
root     12899 12895  0 09:25 ?        00:00:00 /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpjava-susvc root -1 -1 en_US /usr/openv/java/auth.conf 1 -1 12892 noUserCredentialsFile

(There are more when I am logged in).

Thank you for the quick replies.

I am attempting to open the admin console on the Solaris 10 media server.  This anomally is the result of the systems going down hard, as I have started the console numerous time.  I am starting the console with my login account which has permissions in the auth.conf file.

I checked the auth.conf file using :set list in vi.  There are no extra characters. The file has not been edited in more than three months and all was working before this morning's power outage.  Also the Admin console is working fine from the Windows media server.

I am not sure why the log file is listing arich as the username.  He is my fellow adminstrator and was not onsite during my attempt to open the console.  This may be the key, but I don't know where to look.

I found my problem.  While working other issues as well as starting the Admin console, I failed to notice that the name of the media server was in the Host name field.  I corrected it to the name of the master server and I'm good.  Should have seen that.  Thanks for the help.
