Alternate Read Server is Not Wokring

Hello,

I have a remote media server which uses one SLP to backup and then Duplicate to central applicance media server.  Another SLP is for monthly tape out and first backs up to remote media server and then duplicates to library with Alternate Read Server set to the appliance media server which is attached to the library.

This used to work, but now it's clear the data is coming from remote media server to go to tape.

"granted resource MediaID=@aaaah;DiskVolume=PureDiskVolume;DiskPool=remote-media-server-MSDP;Path=PureDiskVolume;StorageServer=remote-meida-server;MediaServer=appliance-media-server"

Traffic monitoring clearly supports this conclusion.

Any idea what is wrong?

2 things come to my mind..
1 does the USE_BACKUP_MEDIA_SERVER_FOR_RESTORE exist on the master server?

2 could this be happening only for older duplications due to SLP versioning and recently the alternate read host was added to the SLP

>> To confirm this run
nbstlutil list - backupid <backupid> -U

>> get the slp version number from the previous command then run the below and check the SLP configuration for that specific version
nbstl <slp_name> -all_versions -L

@ThorWithAnE

Please confirm if my interpretation of your SLPs are correct?
My names:
remote-media-server  = RemoteM
appliance-media-server = CentralM

SLP1
Backup -> RemoteM-MSDP
      Duplication -> CentralM-MSDP

SLP2
Backup -> RemoteM-MSDP
      Duplication -> CentralM-Tape

 Please correct me if I'm wrong.

IMHO, Alternate Read server can only work if both media servers have direct access to same storage.
But again, my interpretation of SLPs may be wrong.
I think SLP2 should look like this:

SLP2
Backup -> RemoteM-MSDP
       Duplication -> CentralM-MSDP
             Duplication -> CentralM-Tape
