Is there any command to search for files in a backup from 2010 till 2011?
In detail, my Java GUI gets hung sometimes when I select a year backups to search from restore window. So I just want to know if that can be done with a command or not?
AIX is the Master server and 7.1 is NBU version.
Thanks,
Soumya

The bplist command shows a list of previously archived or backed up files.
Switches
-B lists from backups
-C client name
-S Master server
-s start date for listing
-e end date for listing

Kiran,
Thanks for the comment. I believe I used this earlier in my enviromnemt and now I got it again from you.
Surprsignly I am not able to get the list now and dont know why
I specified
bplist -B -C <cleint> -S <master> -t 0 -s 12/01/2011 -e 12/10/2011
this is Standard policy and I need to search in backups, not archieves.
Anything I missed here?
Thanks,
Soumya

Date should be in mm/dd/yyyy format.
First give a try with bplist "file or directory" and see if any results will be displayed or not.

EDIT: From TECH27299
A UNIX user's home directory backed up on October 27, 2005 can be shown with a bplist query as follows:
# cd /usr/openv/netbackup/bin
# ./bplist -C <client> -R -t 0 -s 10/27/2005 -e 10/28/2005 /export/uxuser
A Windows user's home data directory backed up on October 27, 2005 can be shown with a bplist query as follows:
% cd "C:\Program Files\VERITAS\NetBackup\bin"
% bplist -C <client> -R -t 13 -s 10/27/2005 -e 10/28/2005 -nt_files /C/Documents\ and\ Settings/owner/My\ Documents

When selecting a year of backup images - it can take a while for the GUI to go get and gather all that info - How long did you wait for it to display?
