I think you should consult the support site and review the documentation first http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=DOC5332. Your question could cover quite a large amount of applications.
There are many "applications" and there are many different options/features for restoring an application "as is".
GRT in NetBackup refers to the ability to restore single items from Exchange, SharePoint and Active directory by performing only a single pass backup. You can perform full restores of the above mentioned apps with the same backup as you do the individual items.
