BMR Failed to restore system files, rc=13

Hi,

I really need help regarding to my BMR restore

Master\Media\Boot server - same

Netbackup version: 7.1

Operating System: Windows 2003

I tried a dissimilar BMR restore of a windows client and these are my steps.

1. Created an SRT with NIC drivers

2. created boot image and burn it into the CD media

3. CD boot successfully on the target machine

4. Edited the host file of the master server machine

5. Target machine sent a discovered configuration to the master server

6. Target machine reboot automatically

6. Created a new configuration

7. initialized the new configuration and select the discovered config from the target machine

8. Mapped all disk drives

8. Prepare to restore

9. Reboot the target machine

In the activity monitor, I noticed that the restore job failed with this job logs:

12/11/2013 5:42:14 PM - begin Restore

12/11/2013 5:42:17 PM - end Restore; elapsed time: 00:00:03

file read failed(13)

and I saw this on the screen of the target machine:

"Failed to restore system files, rc=13. Verify Netbackup configuration and retry."

Tried to create another configuration from the master server but still got the same issue

I really need your help with this issue. Thanks!

How and why did you edit host file on the master server? If you would like to change client's IP address, you also need to change it in client configuration before Prepare To Restore. Otherwise, original IP address is assigned. Have you done this in step 7?

In addition, please mote that after editing host file you need to clear host cache by 'bpclntcmd -clear_host_cache'.

Hello Jaime,

It looks like BMR did its part but the file restore after didn't. Please reply with the bmrrst logs from the master server.

Also make sure to double check the Config for entries like correct ip address like Yasuhisa said

The client that i backed up is still active. So before restoration, I edited the host file of the master server because the target machine might have a conflict with the hostname of the existing client.

I edited the host file like this:

#192.168.1.122 client1 <--------------------- ip and hostname of active client

192.168.1.123 client1 <-------------------- ip and hostname of target machine

I also changed the IP on the clients configuration before I prepare to restore.
