BMR ----> Windows Xp

HI,

We have a requirement that to Backup 100 Windows XP desktops once;
all having data with about 20-35 GBs,
Users will work on those PCs from Monday thru Friday and On Saturdays we have to Revert there desktops to the Configuration and Data level that they were when the backup was taken....

Is BMR a solution to this ? Does BMR support Recovering XP systems ?

Mayur

This could potentially work but would be VERY expensive. I would personally look into some sort of imaging solution that could just dump the image back. Ghost or something. BMR is about $800 list per box plus you need a full NBU license.

NBU license we already have in place...
Any idea how much is only the BMR option ?
Would Ghost Backup to Tape ?

Thanks for the reply.

List is $695 per client. If you have a volume discount, that would apply also.
I don't believe Ghost backs up to tape, but you could probably go to disk and then back the images up to tape.

Thanks Dude for the Info.;..

Actually we dont want to invest in disks for this backup so the backup is to happen on a tape.

But BMR will support Windows XP right ?

And how does BMR work
Host will boot thu NIC and then BMR will push the Backup of it on it ?

Mayur,
Did you know that there is a Bare Metal Restore Forum?

I am playing with it in 6.0. I don't know for sure that it works with XP, but I would imagine it would since you can backup XP with NBU. It can boot via PXE, or with a boot floppy or CD. They are coming out with one in early april that will incorporate WinPE which should be nice.
