Hi All,
I have been facing an issue that after the backup of my OPEN VMS client the bpcd process was not terminating as the OPEN VMS client machine has a limit of running only 50 process due to which we are facing huge performance issue on that particular client.
Thanks,
Nayab

bpcd is a background process that needs to be running in order to listen for incoming backup requests.
If bpcd is not running, backups will fail with staus 57.

bpcd is using so little resources that other processes should be investigated. Seems client does not have enough resources for applications (other than NBU) running on it.
A customer at my previous company had about 5 OpenVMS clients. There were no issues with NBU client software.

I cannot think of any TN or case or why that would be necessary.
It is common knowledge that bpcd should be 'listening' on a client and has been like that for as long as I've known NBU.
Status code 57 troubleshooting info should be enough? You can add '-r' to my bperror command above for 'recommendation' (also documented in NBU Status Code manual).

Try contacting Symanetc Support. They may have internal information regarding this matter. OpenVMS is not widely used so the community has not much to offer other than general advise.
