Greetings everyone,
I'm new here :)
I'm in the process of setting up a new Exchange 2010 environment using two (2) physical host machines running Windows Server 2012. On each of these host machines, we have two (2) Exchange 2010 virtual machines running Windows Server 2008.
For our NetBackup environment, we run version 7.1 on a Solaris 10 SPARC architecture.
Does anyone have experience backing up Exchange Server 2010 virtual machines? Is it possible with NetBackup 7.1?
Any pointers?
Thanks in advance.
Juki.

If you are reffering to the VM backup with exchange protection, this is only avaialbe in 7.5.x

A couple of things
1) FYI - Windows 2012 is not certified yet. They are aiming for 7.6 and possibly 7.5.0.6 ( however no official word )
Be sure to subscribe to : http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH76648
2) For NBU 7.1.x you will need 2 separate policies
* policy type exchange - to backup the exchange data
* policy type : Vmware - to backup the vm
3) Here is some helpful documentation :
EXCHANGE
http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO41825 - Exchange How To Videos

If this answers your question, please do not forget to mark solution :)

Marianne , good point , when doing database backups ( exchange , SQL , sharepoint ) you will need to install the Netbackup client even though they are Vm's , in order to back them up.

Thanks all.
Dyneshia, am using Microsoft Hyper-V and not VMware. Got some documentation for it?

Yes, it is DAG. We are running the in-built Hyper-V on Windows Server 2012.

Thank you , Jack.
That's what I intend on deploying. I shall provide feedback once implemented.
