Backup CIFS Share from a DataDomain to Tape

Hello,

We are backing up our VM environment to a CIFS share on our Data Domain using vRanger.

We would like to now also back this CIFS share up using a Netbackup Policy to tape for futher protection.

Is this possible? I have been unable to figure out how to add the Data Domain as a NBU client, or am I thinking of this the wrong way?

As it stands today, we use NBU to backup all physical hosts to the DD and use a Storage Lifecycle policy to move the data to tape.

Thanks for any assistance!

You can not add DD as NetBackup client, whereas you can backup data on DD through CIFS access using some windows client. Just add a windows client, and write backup targets in UNC form.you have already configured to run NetBackup with CIFS accessible account on NetBackup server(s), so use this server as client.
