Hi Folks, if I need to do a backup of just one directory on a NAS client how can I go about doing this? Do all NAS backups have to be performed using NDMP?

Thanks!

If you can mount the directory on a NetBackup client, you can just run a regular filesystem backup.  We used to do CIFS backups that way until we got NDMP set up.  For large shares, NDMP is much faster.

You can backup that folder from Media server using UNC path. What you need to do is start NetBackup Client service with an account that has full access to that NAS share. Then create an NT policy and add UNC path of that folder (\\nas_name\share_name\directory) in file selection box and add that media server in client box.
