Backup during Windows 2008 R2 cluster failover

Hello Experts,

We have a new client that is a Windows 2008 R2 failover cluster. NetBackup 6.5.6 is on the server and on each node of the client, and we are using the cluster name, not the node names, to back up the shared drives.

I'm wondering what to expect when a node fails over while a shared drive is being backed up. Our client fails with status 13, and the server tries again, within the same job, which succeeds. Is that how it's supposed to work?

Thanks,

Glo

In failover scenerios there will always be some down time for the app to restart on the standby server. What your experiencing is a "read failure" which would be the expected behavior if the server transition occurs while a backup is in progress. This is the way it should work..
