Sounds like a timeout - increase the client read and client connect timeouts on the Media Servers Host properties - 1800 is a good value

Would need more detail of your setup and the bpbkar log from the client to help further, as well as seeing the job log

Also, what kind of backup is this?  I would agree with either a timeout, or loss of network connection, such as a port being closed.  This can happen to clients that are behind firewalls sometimes.

bpbrm on media server....

So, in summary:

On Client: bpbkar
On Media Server: bpbrm and bptm

bpbkar will show us activity on client. If we look at the 'error' it seems that data stream was finished on client.

bpbrm will show catalog info from client, bpdbm and nbjm updates to master.
bptm will show data received from client.

Please rename logs to reflect process name (e.g. bpbkar.txt) and post as attachments.
