Hi All,

We are facing issue with a server. Whenever backup starts running, VSS service gets hung and backup as well. Issue was fixed after rebooting the server. However this scenario is happening intermittently, we can't reboot the server all the time. Please provide a solution to fix this issue. I have attached bpfis and bpbkar logs.

Regards

Harsha

You need to find bpfis and bpbkar logs that contain the beginning of backups.
These logs look like the continuation of backups that started on a different day.

To troubleshoot VSS issues - best to look in Windows Event Viewer System and Application logs.
NBU is the casualty here - not the cause of hung VSS snapshots.

To troubleshoot snapshot issues, have a look at this TN:

what is the Netbackup Version in client?

what is the OS version in Client?

when you say VSS serves gets hang, its more likely an VSS issue wich needs to be fixed by your OS team or Microsoft.

and the logs that you have provided are not compleate logs

please set the Verbose to 5 and tirgger the backup and attach the  compleate logs to this post.

also check if VSS is working fine not not without Netbackup, before you look into Netbackup.by using the below T/N, if you find the issues at VSS level that confirms that is something out side the Netbackup.

Thanks Marianne and Ram

The links seems to be promising, deleting shadow copy components has helped. I will contact windows support for such further issues. Thanks for commenting.
