Hello,
I need some advise here,
I have read in SAN Client Admin Guide Page 17 that backup of Exchange DAG is not supported over FT.
Can someone advise, what could be other better ways to backup 6 TB of exchange database?
Please note, we are not considering use of SAN Media Server.
More details about environment
Media Server : 5240 Appliance running 773 as FT media server.
Client : Windows 2012 running 773. Exchange 2013.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
one option is to backup to msdp and use client side deduplication. We do so successfully with 2008R2 and Exchange DAG 2010.

I think you are misinterpreting the manual.
The way I read the manual is that SAN Client backup of passive node is not supported. So, active node should be supported...
SAN Client does not support the following type of agent backups:
■ Microsoft SharePoint
■ Enterprise Vault
■ Microsoft Exchange Database Availability Group (DAG) or Cluster Continuous
Replication (CCR) backups through a passive node of an Exchange cluster.

Apologies for delayed reponse, i was away for sake of health.
Thanks Marianne. Considering to your response, shall i be able to protect passive copy of database from Active node ? (excuse me for my knowledge on exchange).

I also have no knowledge of Exchange or any other type of database.
When I need to configure agent backups, I totally rely on the manual and work closely with the DBA and/or Application Admin to get it to work.
The way I read the manual is that backing up the active copy of DBs can be backed up via SAN Client.
If Exchange Admin insists on backing up passive copy, you will need to config LAN backup.

Marianne is interpreting the manual correctly. I asked the developers and the lead QA engineer.
