Hi everyone. Subj = our lab on Cisco UCS. RDMs = LUNs on NetApp.
NetBackup installed on physical server. Need to do full bkps on the tape storage.
I'm just don't understand.. First steps? What can I read, Agmin guide for win and HA, or for vmware?
Now I've done zonning for LUNs to present them for NetBackup server. Installed clients on VMs.
How I can to do full bkp of clusterized SQL servers with RDM?
What's next?
Thanks!

hi ,
if the RDMs that you have are Physical..VMware backup can not make the backup of those.... you need to make the backup of those RDMs as you do for normal physical server.. installing the Netbackup on the VM and taking the backup of it
since its the cluster SQL server... you need to use the Cluster VIP as a client to make the backup of Cluster Drives...
see the below Tech note to understand about the taking the backup of Cluster Drives ..

In addition to above excellent post -
you can read up about RDMs in NBU for VMware Guide.
In short, RDMs cannot be backed up using VMware policy type.
Snapshot backups will need Snapshot Client configuration. Not sure if NetApp is supported.
Seems best choice here will be SQL policy type with NBU installed on both nodes.
About backing up SQL cluster using the NBU agent, see NBU for SQL Admin Guide.
Please alway select/tell us your NBU version. This will enable us to provide links to the manuals for your NBU version.
