Backup schedule

GHas
Level 4

Hi everyone,

I have been "tasked" with providing a backup schedule list of all active policies for a backup server that can be auto-updated everyday.

The server backup schedule report is to contain the following information for each active backup policy:

Client name

Policy name

OS

Type(s) of backup  (full or incremental)

Frequency (ie daily, weekly, etc)

Retention level (ie 1Mth, 1yr, etc)

Target (ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES, D: , etc)

I have been trying bpplinfo, bppllist, bpplsched but cant get it all together even for one client.

I currently track scheduled jobs manually in an excel spreadsheet which took some time to create but not that hard to maintain.

Unfortunately it is NOT AUTOMATED. And just to add a twist I have two Windows backup servers and two Unix backup servers.

I believe a script may be the only way but have not been able to find the commands to collect the desired information

Recommendations?

All of the information you require is listed by 'bppllist <policy> -l'.

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH42917

INFO section

Policy Name

INCLUDE section

Client Name

OS

Target (ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES, D: , etc)

SCHED section

Type(s) of backup  (full or incremental)

Frequency (ie daily, weekly, etc)

Retention level (ie 1Mth, 1yr, etc)

If you use SLP's then some info about retentions will need to be collected from nbstl
