Dear all,
I have a zfs file sytem and when i backup it to tape. I get the disk full alert from monitor server. I would like to know can I control the space used by netbackup when i backup and can i change to another location in solaris platform? What's schema do netbackup apply when backup. e.g when I backup D drive in windows while I install Netbackup at C drive. It will use space from C or D drive. And how about in UNIX platform?

More details please...
Where exactly is NBU installed on this Solaris server?
Please check if /usr/openv is linked to another filesystem.
Which filesystem is giving 'disk full alert'?
The filesystem where NBU is installed or the ZFS filesystem?
All I can think is that logging was enabled for this client at some stage - probably at a high level.
Check if there is a VERBOSE = # entry in /usr/openv/netbackup/bp.conf.
Check which log folders exist under /usr/openv/netbackup/logs
Check logging levels in /usr/openv/netbackup/nblog.conf
(Look for DebugLevel and DiagnosticLevel).

I agree with Marianne. No large temporary file is generated on clients. Is this host used as media server? Please tell us more detail.
Also chech if this zfs is really reaching full while backup. Check file system full is logged in syslog(/var/adm/messages), or run df periodically while backup.

I'm still waiting the end user reply, but I would like to know it requires space on the media server to generate the image file?

The only space needed on the media server is for logging.
Please have another look at my post above.....
