Hi All,

One of my windows 2003 client backup's are continously failing with EC:58.

nslookup on my master is fine.
connectivity between master, media and clinet is also fine through putty/ssh.
telnet clientname bpcd is fine.
but client is not able to connect from my master server gui thru host properties. its throwing an error saying canot connect on socket (Status 25).

bpcd is listening on the client and registry entries are also fine. Services are running.
and the client netbackup version is 5.1 MP 5.
Master netbackup version is 6.5.1(Unix).

Can anyone help me to resolve this issue plsss!!

Thanks,
Shyam Prasad

put hostnames in local hosts file
run traceroute/tracert both ways between master/client media/client
run bptestbpcd -client $clientname -verbose from master and from media

is there a REQUIRED_INTERFACE in the bp.conf on the master / media server / client?

for a windows client, rather than being in a bp.conf file, it would be found in the registry
HKLM\Software\VERIITAS\NetBackup\CurrentVersion\Config

The key would be REQUIRED_INTERFACE

If it's not there, and you have multiple interfaces, try setting the client name the FQDN of the backup nic for the client in the Backup, Archive, and Restore GUI on the client

File | NetBackup Client Properties
