Hi All

Have created new setup with NBU 7.1 in Cluster (Wndows 2008 R2).

Strange issue i'm facing is backups areworking fine on Tape but are failing on Disk with 213 error. However i tried configuring Local STU as well as Shared STU but no solution. any idea.....what went wrong..

Tried also re-installaing NBU in cluster (From scratch also)...

EMM had corrupt entries related to STU which was causing this issue.

After cleaning the installation it worked.

bperror -S 213 -r

no storage units available for use
The NetBackup resource broker (nbrb) did not find any storage units available for use. Either all storage units are unavailable or all storage units are configured for On demand only. In addition, the policy and schedule does not require a specific storage unit.

Do the following, as appropriate:
* Examine the Backup Status and All Log Entries report for the appropriate time period to determine the policy or schedule that received the error.
* Verify that the storage unit's drives are not down.
* Verify the following attribute settings for all storage units:
* For disk storage units, the Maximum concurrent jobs is not set to 0
* For Media Manager storage units, the Maximum concurrent write drives is not set to 0
* Verify that the robot number and host name in the storage unit configuration matches the Media and Device Management device configuration.
* Determine if all storage units are set to On demand only for a combined policy and schedule that does not require a specific storage unit. In this case, either specify a storage unit for the policy and the schedule combination or turn off On demand only for a storage unit.
* If the storage unit is on a UNIX or Linux NetBackup media server, it may indicate a problem with bpcd. Check /etc/inetd.conf on the media server to verify that the bpcd entry is correct.
If the storage unit is on a Windows NetBackup media server, verify that the NetBackup Client service was started on the Windows NetBackup media server.
* For detailed troubleshooting information, increase the logging levels of nbrb and mds on the master server (use the vxlogcfg command).
See "Configuring and Using Unified Logging" in the Troubleshooting Guide).
Retry the operation and check the resulting logs.

Hi,

Sounds silly, but:

Are your disks online???

Windows 2008 has the stupid 'feature' not to online disks...

Please check if your disks are online in disk management...

Hope this helps ya!

Hi,

You don't precised what kind of disk pool you are using ( Advanced Disk, MSDP,...).

I don't think the 213 status code is connected to the HA .

If you are using MSDP you may check the following doc ( it's still relevant even the NBU version is 7.0.1):

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH156490

Thanx liliana

But it's just basic STU which is configured...No MSDP  /Advance STU is in picture.

It's very strange that has failed here cause we have two setups (DR & PR). At DR it's working smoothly but at PR don't know what is causing this issue.

After reviewing the logs by support it's showing that EMM is unable to locate the resources for media server.. its surprising that how come EMM fails to recognize the resouces locally.. & that too in fresh deployment..
