Backups not appending to tape used in previous job

Scenario:
At 7PM, I do full exchange backups using our "Email" media pool with a retention of 6 weeks. The job is finished by 9PM and uses 1 tape and writes 280GB to the LTO2 media.

At 1AM in the morning, I do incremental backups of KVS (backup type NTFS) to the same "Email" media pool with a retention of 6 weeks. The job is finished by 3am and uses 37GB of data and writes to a different tape in the same "Email" media pool.

The Problem:
How can I get the KVS backup to append to the tape that the previous exchange backup used?

Additional Information:
The exchange job and the KVS job each use a different media server, does this have a factor?

The tape chosen by Netbackup is dependent on couple of things :
1. It should have same retention, that is same in your case.
( 6 months retention).
2. Type of backup should be same , Full backup will not be mixed with Incremental.
3. Different media server will choose different tapes because each media server will maintain its own mediaDB.

There might be other factors but they are not coming to my mind right now.

This is exactly the problem. That is how NetBackup works. Tapes are NOT shared between media servers.Message was edited by:
