Backupsa are Failling with client/server handshaking failed(26)

Hi

 

One of the client backup are failling with  the error :client/server handshaking failed(26)

What are steps have to foolow to clear this error

Again Backup was started But it was queued in Job state details it was showing (Required media server is offline for tape )

 

What are the procedure to trouble shoot.

You have 2 different issues that need to be looked at separately. For status 26, you need to confirm that port 1556 is open in both directions between media server and client (NBU 7.0.1 and higher, port 13724 for older versions ). Create bpcd log folder on client for further troubleshooting. If you are still having issues with the media server, please start a separate discussion for that.

This can also be caused by timeouts on busy systems
You can increase the Media server connection timeout on the Master server host properties and also add
the proxy receive timeout file as I mentioned in this post

Just translate the path from Unix to windows - it is valid on both
The keep alive settings can also be set but in windows are done by registry settings under HKLM/system/currentcontrolset/services/tcpip/parameters
Google it for the MS KB article about these settings - don't have access to give you the link at the moment

check the ping and also firewall 

also paste the error details here

What type of backup you are performing ? If its any application based backup...crendentials change may cuase this issue...please chek with application team.
