Bare Metal Restore of V20z

Bish
Not applicable
Hi,

We have got a Solarix V20z server installed with Win 2003 OS.
Yesterday the server crashed & we have got the bare metal backup of the server.
When we try to do a BMR from Boot server, it is getting stuck at 'Starting Network Service'.

We have tried different drivers, but no luck.

Can anyone help us out in this?

1. Try hitting <atl>-<tab> key to see if there is a popup message that has got hidden behind the window.
2. Whats the version of NBU on the master, boot & client?
3. I assume this is n/w based restore? Can you try fast boot media based restore?
4. Does your client have broadcom net-xtreme NIC? If yes, try downloading the latest driver fo rht NIC and adding it to your SRT.

Try burning the iso image to a disk and boot it from there. About the boot server, you need a dhcp service running and all the works.

Hi,

We have NBU 6.5.3 on server and client .The broadcom drivers are included in the SRT and upgraded to the required version, DHCP also works. We have another quad port Intel Pro 1000 card also installed in the system. This card should not be used or initialized during the restore, but who knows ?
Booting from a WinXX DVD works fine. Well need to get the drivers then for network installed. Doing a PXE boot for some other not so handy backup solution for this servers also works.
