Hello everybody,
Today I want to ask about backing up virtual machines hosted on Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1.
We have Netbackup Enterprise 7.0. There are several virtual machines hosted on Virtual Server R2 SP1 we need to protect.
We installed Netbackup client for each Virtual Server and want to create policies to protect hosted virtual machine.
I read http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH65848 but I still have some dudes.
First I would like to know if there is any particular configuration on Attribute windows policy and second, when searching for components to backup on Backup, Archive and Restore console I can not find any User Data bellow Shadow Copy Components as found on http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH65848.
Finally what I need is to know, is there any best practice for backing up virtual machines hosted under Virtual Server 2005?

Hi,
According to this note you can only back up the vm if they're paused or turned off. Using VSS, that is.
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH35330 (might be a bit dated as it doesn't refer to NBU 7. I don't think much would have changed though as the focus has been on Vmware and hyperV integration, none on VS 2005)
You can still back them up using clients installed inside the vm.

Thanks guys, but I have a comment.
Netbacup 6.5.2 and higher are capable to create backup for virtual machines using vss. In this case VMs do not need to be paused as you can find in http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH65848.
I just need to backup from Virtual Server 2005 not from VMware.
