Better way to Upgrade

Gadit

Hello Everybody.

I have a cuestion for you. We currently have in our company Netbackup 7.6 installed on a Solaris 10.

The company like to buy Netbackup 8.1 and it is going to be installed on a Solaris 11.

What dou you recommend?

1.- Migrate Netbackup 7.6 to Solaris 11 and then upgrade to Netbackup 8.1?

2.- Perform a new installation of Netbakup 8.1 on Solaris 11, and make an Import from the Catalog (Is this possible? Are they compatible?)

Any other idea? What would be the best way to do it? Do you know any documentation that speaks about it?

Thanks in advance!

Your customer has unfortunately skipped too many versions to upgrade straight to 8.1.
They will need to upgrade to 8.0 first, then to 8.1 or 8.1.1.
See the Upgrade portal for upgrade path.

My suggestion:

Upgrade NBU on the Solaris 10 server to 8.0.
Use Catalog Backup and restore to migrate to NBU 8.0 on Solaris 11. (Catalog can only be restored/recovered using exact same NBU version.)
