Can I stop multiplexing across tape libraries ?

I have an AIX server running Netbackup 773 that serves as a backup master/media server for two business units. Each Business has a tape library attached to the AIX server and its own set of tapes.

Since there is always the possibility that either silo can have a hardware problem and be down for a day all policies specify a storage unit group saying that they 'prefer' to use their own tape library but can float over to the other silo.

But what I run into now is sometimes backup jobs from company A  choose to multiplex with a running job from company B.  As much as possible I want to keep the backups for the two companies seperate.

Is there any way for me to tell Netbackup to multiplex within a tape library but not across tape libraries?

You need to have a good look at selection criteria within the STUG.
By the sounds of it, it is probably set to the default of Prioritized.
Failover will probably the better choice here.

I am set to Priortized.  Let me read up on failover.  I seem to remember doing that at one time and I had some problem.
