can a netbackup 7.1 media server run as SAN client?
I saw this statment on netbackup 7.1 SAN client admin guide page 16.
How to choose SAN Client and Fibre Transport hosts
When you choose the systems to use for NetBackup Fibre Transport, be aware of
the following:
■ NetBackup SAN clients cannot also be NetBackup servers. Therefore, only
configure a NetBackup client to be a SAN client on systems on which only the
NetBackup client software is installed.
■ Do not use the NetBackup master server as a SAN-attached media server. Data
transfer consumes system resources and severely degrades NetBackup
management performance.
■ Do not use the host on which the NetBackup Enterprise Media Manager server
runs as a Fibre Transport server. Data transfer consumes system resources
and severely degrades EMM performance. Normally, the EMM server runs on
the NetBackup master server host, but it can run on any NetBackup media
server.

A media server can backup it's own data to secondary storage directly over fiber (if tape devices are configured over fibre) anyway. So no use in installing SAN client on a media server. Install SAN client on only NBU clients.
If you have EMM server running on master, do not use it as SAN attached media server or Fibre Transport host.

@demo4119 - were you hoping that we would give you another answer than the one that you found in the manual? The manual seems 100% clear about the fact that a San Client cannot be a media server.
Or maybe San client is getting confused with San media server?
