Is it possible to virtualize Windows 2003 Ent R2 SP2 NetBackup v6.5.6 media servers into ESX vSphere v4.x and still zone to tape drives (VTL and physical) via NPIV out of the guest O/S?
Anyone done this successfully, either in dev/test or production?

Hi, have a look at ftp://exftpp.symantec.com/pub/support/products/NetBackup_Enterprise_Server/340091.pdf

apparently it is supported, but only for disk storage units.
So tape drives in a virtual media server are not supported

best regards,
Stefaan.

Not supported by Symantec as per statement, but a good lab exercise maybe.......
