Can see robot (and drives during wizard) but no actual drives show up in Netbackup.

I've had to reinstall, our NBU infra due to a bug popping up that neither NB tech could solve, or I could. And I ran out of time so we went the reinstall route.

running

/usr/openv/volmgr/bin/scan I can see the robot, and the tape drives.

I've run tpautoconf.

I've run the wizard in NBU itself (it findsd the robot and all the drives) But the drives themselves NEVER show up.

I remember the wizard last time would configure the drives and it was all happy. I'm baffled at what I could be missing and am now just going in circles.

Does someone have some insight?

Please show us output of scan command?
And 'cat /proc/scsi/scsi' ?

Have you added VERBOSE entry in vm.conf and created tpconfig folder under /usr/openv/volmgr/debug? Followed by NBU restart?

Anything useful in tpconfig log?

Can you confirm that vmd is running?
Without any devices, that is the only MM process that should be running.

Maybe also good to take a step back and verify that everything is good at OS level as per NBU Device Config Guide?

I'm sure you have probably checked this, but have you got the correct licenses instaled.

I have 6 drives (reason it shows 12 is they have 2 paths) Last time I installed it sorted that out and things were happy. tpoconfig log doesn't show much.

Yup checked and rechecked.

So I removed everything, reset NB.

Then re-ran the wizaqrd selecting only 1 media server and it worked like a charm.

Now I'm running into issues that when I try to perform a policy backup it says it has no media. The war continues.

Trying to figure out why all my media is in Standalone

sometimes I have to reinventory the robot - even when it makes no sense to do so

Your media will be standalone because you "removed everything".

You need to run an inventory again.

This is something everybody runs into at some point.

Check the drives at the OS - that must be step one. scan -tape or sgscan tape

tpautoconf -t show the drives?

There are some OS where you HAVE to set the robot as scsi 0, then the drives - what server is managing the robot?
