Hello
I use netbackup 7.5.x and use the Netbakcup Vault option to make a second copy and send the second copy tapes to offsite for storage.
my question is
is there a way to password protect the tapes which are send offsite, reason for this question is " how to protect my data in case some one gets hold of the tapes while in transit"
regards
MBGN

You encrypt data on tape. The best way to do this is using Netbackup KMS. NBU KMS utilize the hardware encryption option available in LTO4 and newer (other manufacture also).

And also the manual "netbackup security and encryption guide":

I agree with Nicolai. There is no 'password protect' in NBU as there is in Backup Exec.
You need to look at encryption options. KMS (if you have supported tape drives) is the easiest.
