Cannot import media id , that media id is already active on this server

Hi Team,

Greetings !

I am doing a first phase import of a media.
Though I write protected and inserted the media, other active jobs tried to use it and now the media is in assigned status.

Now I have frozen that media.

when I tried to start first phase import, it give the below error message:

2/6/2010 11:47:37 - begin Import
2/6/2010 11:47:38 - started process bptm (20658)
2/6/2010 11:47:39 - started process bptm (20658)
2/6/2010 11:47:39 - mounting L05024
2/6/2010 11:48:15 - Error bptm(pid=20658) WRN - Cannot import media id L05024, that media id is already active on this server.
2/6/2010 11:48:16 - Error bpimport(pid=20595) Status = cannot perform specified media import operation.
2/6/2010 11:48:16 - end Import; elapsed time: 00:00:39
cannot perform specified media import operation(176)

I have deassign the media, moved it to a different pool (so that its not assigned again), deleted the media from media list, ran inventory and detected the media, still getting the same error:
I am yet to unfreeze the media.

Please suggest me ways to rectify this.

If NBU attempts to use write-protected media for backups, it will freeze it.
Frozen status will keep the media in Assigned state, preventing the import.
First create a pool that will never be used for backups - something like IMPORT.
Next, unfreeze the media and change the pool.
Start the import.

Hi Marianne,

Thanks a lot for your response. I managed to expire the media with bxpdate after deassigning, while keeping  the media frozen and it worked.
