1. NO - it must be the same version, patch level, installation path and server name

2. You can use bpimport -drfile as long as you know the media id of the tape the catalog is on

3. Enterprise Server can have a Master plus media servers - plus additional options are available such as Enterprise Disk etc

Server edition has a single backup Master / Media - you cannot use Enterprise Disk / Enterprise clients (so no VMware etc,)

Hope this helps

1) I don't recommend it. Restoring a 7.0 catalog backup to a 6.5 is NOT supported

2) You import the catalog backup tape / image from disk

3) Enterprise = media server, server alone just Master server (and clients)

Not only is it not recommended, it won't work at all.

1-. NO -  Not possible.

2. You can import from the tape. I would recommend to have dual copy of catalog both on disk and tape.

3. In real life, netbackup server is a netbackup domain consist of a master server, clients and agents

No media servers, no san media servers, no VM support and no API robots.
