Checkpoint enabled windows backups that cant be suspended.

As per the title I've got a vast lump of data in a windows policy with checkpoints enabled yet can I use it for its purpose? I cannot.

The suspend option is greyed out on all jobs in the policy...the master and the streams spawned.

These are mpx and multistream...could this be why?

Any info on the subject appreciated.

Server = Sol10, NB7504, client is w2003 with 7.1 client installed.

TIA,Jim

Oh and bpdbjobs wont touch them either:

bpdbjobs -suspend type=all
Suspending 0 jobs

Nice.

Tell us about the policy itself and the selections being used - could we see screen shots of the policy tabs?

Some things are not supported, even though you can select checkpoints:

Bog standard policy type ms-windows backup with file selection at subfolder:

SET SNAP_ID=w2tankara_1368115207

F:\Archive\a_m*
F:\Archive\a_u*
F:\Archive\a_v*
F:\Archive\a_r*
F:\Archive\a_t*

BUT...this is odd.

I've had to restart netbackup to address another issue and ...will you look at that...these jobs are now suspendable. Looks like a bug to me.

I heard something similar in NB7.1 but not sure if it's what you're facing.

Enable verbose=5 bpbkar logs to see if bpbkar is going into some kind of "loop" of reading the filesystem again and again. If it is, log a case with netbackup support to report.
