Client with mutiple network interfaces

Hi, my master server and media servers are NBU 7.1 on Windows 2008 R2 SP1. Our clients normally have two network interfaces: one to production LAN, one to backup LAN. I want to make sure the client back up via backup LAN. How to achieve this?

I am thinking about two options:

1) in host file, map client name to IP address of backup LAN.

E.g., clientA-backup  192.168.x.x

        clientA              10.0.0.x

where the line on top is for backup LAN and the line at bottom is for production LAN.

2) use Preferred network settings. I see there is setting which named Preferred network. Can I use this setting?

Our requirements is: client should be backed up by media server via backup LAN. Master server will communicate to the client via production LAN.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Hey Mate,

I would suggest using Preferred Network - less troublesome.

Both - Master and Media Servers have separate configs for Preferred Network, so you can configure preferred network on the Media Server and leave or configure Preferred Network on Master Server as the Production one.

Hope it helps.
